Production Livestock
Production Livestock Associations and Organizations
Here's a list of several of the production livestock national associations. I've included
listings for beef, pork, poultry, sheep, dairy goat and meat goat. Producers can find the information, education,
support and representation they need for their business.
Animal Agriculture Alliance: The mission of the
Animal Agriculture Alliance is to communicate the importance of modern animal agriculture to consumers and the
media. The Alliance educates these audiences about topics ranging from animal welfare to biotechnology using
reliable, science-based information.
National Farmers Organization: Across the country,
National Farmers combines commodities from farms like yours. Then our marketing professionals go to work for you
- negotiating with major ag industry buyers to improve your bottom line. Because your profit is our business, we
work hard for you every day. And we succeed when you succeed - just like family.
National Cattlemen's Beef Association: Welcome to
the beef industry's information center. The center for beef and cattle news, up to date beef and cattle research
and food safety. Links to the other key industry web sites. Produced by National Cattlemen's Beef Association
for consumers, the industry, media professionals, and cattle producers.
National Cattlemen's Foundation: The National
Cattlemen's Foundation is advancing the future of the beef industry with passion and urgency. We do this
by:
Educating people of all ages and interest about the beef industry. Providing scholarship opportunities to inspire
young people to pursue careers in agriculture.
Offering a means for people to invest in the beef industry’s legacy and lifestyle.
Providing disaster and emergency support to producers in crisis situations.
National Pork Producers Council: (NPPC) conducts
public-policy outreach on behalf of its 43 affiliated state associations, enhancing opportunities for the
success of U.S. pork producers and other industry stakeholders by establishing the U.S. pork industry as a
consistent and responsible supplier of high-quality pork to the domestic and world markets.
The National Pork Board & Pork Checkoff: The
National Pork Board was created by an Act of Congress that established the pork Checkoff. The Pork Act outlines
how checkoff funds must be used. The National Pork Board collects checkoff on all U.S. produced market hogs,
feeder pigs, breeding stock, imported hogs and pork products. The National Pork Board administers programs and
allocates Checkoff funds according to priorities determined by those who pay the checkoff.
American Egg Board: The official home of The
Incredible Edible Egg. The American Egg Board (AEB) is the U.S. egg producer's link to consumers in
communicating the value of the incredible egg.
U.S. Poultry and Egg Association: U.S. Poultry and
Egg Association represents producers and processors of broilers, turkeys, eggs and breeding stock, as well as
allied companies. The association's focus is research, education and communication. USPOULTRY is known as the
All-Feather Association.
The National Turkey Federation: The National
Turkey Federation is the national advocate for all segments of the turkey industry, providing services and
conducting activities which increase demand for its members' products by protecting and enhancing their ability
to profitably provide wholesome, high-quality, nutritious products.
American Sheep Industry Association: ASI is the
national organization representing the interests of more than 82,000 sheep producers located throughout the
United States. From East to West, farm flocks to range operations, ASI works to represent the interests of all
producers.
American Dairy Goat Association: On a worldwide
basis, more people drink the milk of goats than any other single animal. A dairy doe should be milked in the
same manner as a dairy cow, using good dairy hygiene. Does may be milked by hand or machine. The milk requires
the same careful attention to cleanliness and cooling as any other milk. ----- There is at least one dairy goat
association or club in every state, on the ADGA home page, click the link - Dairy Goat Clubs by State.
Training and Certification Program for Meat Goat
Producers: Meat goat enterprises are one of the fastest growing
livestock sectors in the United States. The majority of new producers entering the meat goat industry have
little or no experience with goats, and other producers have entered the industry with no livestock raising
experience. As the meat goat industry grows and evolves, a quality assurance program, that is compatible with
HACCP-like programs, is essential. Such a program ensures the production of a safe, healthy product that
satisfies consumers and increases profit for the production industry.
The American Goat Society: The American Goat
Society has a long history of pioneering. It was the first organization to register purebred goats
exclusively. It was first to supply two generations of pedigrees on the registration certificate. AGS
brought the first national dairy goat show. It was first to provide training for goat judges. It was first to
offer classification of dairy goats. Today, AGS continues to seek new ways to serve dairy goat enthusiasts.
