Exotic Livestock Provide Rare Opportunities
Exotic livestock provides unique opportunities for farmers throughout North America. The wide
range of exotic livestock make it possible to have operations as small as a few acres to thousands of acres in
size. This page has several associations and organizations that can provide you with the information and
education on some of the most popular breeds.
Exotic Wildlife Association: EWA represents
breeders and producers of native and non-native hoofstock, protects the rights of private property owners,
defends the owners of exotic hoofstock, fosters the development of the alternative livestock industry, promotes
conservation through commerce, and provides technical support to our members.
American Deer and Wildlife Alliance: American Deer
and Wildlife Alliance, ADWA is a new non-profit wildlife trade organization for manufacturers and industry
professionals in the deer and wildlife industry.
Reindeer Owners and Breeders Association:
Dedicated to the advancement of public awareness of reindeer, ROBA also supplies the membership with reindeer
education, research, and conservation. These goals help to develop and enhance the abilities of members to
maintain healthy herds and reindeer business operations.
North American Elk Breeders Association: (NAEBA),
promoting, developing, and enhancing the North American elk industry. The North American Elk Breeders
Association, or NAEBA, provides and maintains a purebred elk registry, produces a bi-monthly full-color North
American Elk journal, and educates North American Elk Breeders in proper management and breeding practices.
United Elk Farmers Association: Harnessing the
Future of the Elk Industry. The Mission of The United Elk Farmers Association is to make available to its
membership, a tool for the educated process of Maternal and Paternal Parenting of Elk through the use of a
Registry utilizing DNA Profiling, and Genetic purity and Progeny Tracking. To keep its members and the
interested public informed with the use of a website, mailings, periodic newsletters, and annual
conventions.
Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association: The
official website of the Alpacas Owners and Breeders Association. Everything you need to know about alpacas,
fiber and fashion.
Paco-Vicuna Association: Paco-Vicuna fiber is
extremely rare and reserved for making luxurious, heirloom quality garments. Vicuñas are a wild and protected
species with priceless fiber. Paco-Vicuñas have a more calm demeanor, but with fiber like the vicuña. It is
super- fine and dense, but grows longer and faster.
Llama Association of North America: To promote
interest in and knowledge of llamas with special programs and the sponsoring of llama shows. To cultivate
friendship among and promote the interest of the owners and breeders of llamas.
North American Ccara Association: (NACA) Our
mission is to seek out, preserve, perpetuate and promote the best specimens of the working llama-the Ccara. This
registry for the Ccara llama has been established for the working llama. In cooperation with the ILR the North
American Ccara Association (NACA) has been has been established as a formal recording program for the Ccara
llama using strict screening criteria.
American Emu Association: (AEA) Formed in 1989,
the AEA is a national, member driven, non-profit agricultural association dedicated to the emu industry. AEA
promotes public awareness of emu products, fosters research and publishes a bi-monthly newsletter and several
industry brochures.
American Ostrich Association: Home page and

National Bison Association: A community bound by
the heritage of the American bison/buffalo and the quality of its products. Bisoncentral.com is the National

American Water Buffalo Association: Promotes the
scientific study of raising, breeding and marketing water buffaloes. The Association also serves to bring focus
on the potential of this animal and to provide a forum for those who are interested in the growth and
development of the breed. Established in 1986, the Association is worldwide, with members from 29 states and 20
countries.
International Yak Association: The International
Yak Association exists for the purpose of advancing awareness of the Yak and for benefiting its members through
education and communication. As Yaks are still quite rare on a national scale, we rely on our members to come
together with their experiences and knowledge so that we may continue to learn about this multi-faceted
bovine.
