University of Minnesota, College of Food, Agriculture and Natural
Resources: Minneapolis, Minnesota. CFANS is a college devoted to
solution-driven science; we use critical and innovative thinking plus all the tools of the arts and sciences to
make our planet a productive, friendly, and sustainable environment—to solve everyday problems. We study the
health of the land and the health of the living. We strive to improve our economy, foster job creation,
strengthen our agricultural and natural resource-based industries and enhance the social fabric of
communities. We turn biomass into products including biofuels and many other products society depends
upon.

Alcorn State University, School of Agriculture and Applied
Sciences: Alcorn State, Mississippi. (AREAS) has graduated generation
after generation of leaders for one important reason: We are America's very first black land-grant institution.
Alcorn offers a variety of degree programs and courses, state-of-the-art facilities, opportunities for research,

Mississippi State University, Division of Agriculture, Forestry, and Veterinary
Medicine: Mississippi State, Mississippi. The DAFVM’s research and
extension programs support the agriculture and forestry industries which comprise the largest sectors of
Mississippi’s economy, employ 29 percent of the state’s population and generate annual revenues of around $6-6.5
billion. Our programs are funded by various federal, state, and private sources; the National Science
Foundation recently ranked MSU 5th nationally in agriculture research expenditures.

Agriculture is the largest industry in the state of Missouri and the largest sector of the U.S. economy.
Agriculture employs approximately 20% of all U.S. workers. There are many career options in the agriculture
industry. In addition to production agriculture they include: Education, Agronomy, Horticulture, Agribusiness,
Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, Veterinary Science and Poultry Science.
Lincoln University, Department of Agriculture and Environmental
Sciences: Jefferson City, Missouri. Students who choose a major in this
department will find undergraduate degree programs in agriculture, agri-business and environmental science.
Courses in aquaculture, biotechnology, GIS and wildlife are also offered through this department. Students may
also prepare for veterinary school by customizing their program of study to meet the unique requirements of this
profession.
Missouri State University, Department of Agriculture:
Springfield, Missouri. The Department of Agriculture at Missouri State University is dedicated to meeting
the needs of the agricultural community of southwest Missouri and beyond by providing quality education,
research and service. By the nature of the people and industries served, the Departmental mission integrates the
goals of the College of Natural and Applied Sciences to develop students' capacities for lifelong learning in an
increasingly technological world and the themes of public affairs, business and economic development,
professional education and health care from the University mission.
Northwest Missouri State University, Department of
Agriculture: Maryville, MO. The Department of Agriculture at Northwest
Missouri State University supports and enhances the mission of the University. There are currently eight majors,
five minors and a two-year farm operations certificate to complement the high quality living-learning
environment of Northwest for students interested in pursuing careers in agriculture.
Southeast Missouri State University, Department of Agriculture: Cape
Girardeau, Missouri. The mission of the Department of Agriculture is to provide support to the vast and
complex agricultural system of our region. We are responsible for providing high-quality programs that prepare
our students for successful careers in the agribusiness sector of our economy. We also provide a quality
pre-veterinary medicine program for those interested in becoming a veterinarian. You will find careers in
agriculture to be varied and fulfilling, as we all work together to feed and clothe the United States and the
world.
