Louisiana State University, College of
Agriculture: Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Our mission is to provide programs
of excellence to educate undergraduate and graduate students of agriculture, environmental science, renewable
natural resource sciences, human resource sciences, quantitative sciences and family and consumer sciences; to
support and encourage research, public service and other scholarly pursuits; to further the purposes of the Land
Grant College System for the benefit of the citizens of Louisiana, the nation, and the global community.
Southern University and A & M College, College of Agriculture, Family & Consumer
Sciences: Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The academic program prepares students for
professional careers in food, fiber, natural resources, family and consumer sciences, and agricultural sciences
using innovative strategies, up-to-date technologies, and current information. The program provides students
with the fundamentals underlying their chosen disciplines, practical application and solutions to
discipline-related problems, and opportunities to transfer knowledge to others in a variety of formal and
informal settings.
University of Louisiana, Department of Renewable Resources:
Lafayette, Louisiana. The Department offers concentrations in four different areas of agriculture, two
types of environmental management, and a pre-veterinary curriculum; all six tracks require that students learn
about global resource requirements- especially as related to food and fiber and about policies, economics,
technologies, and social strategies that promote environmental sustainability.
Maine;
Unity College, Agriculture, Food, and Sustainability: Unity,
Maine. Agriculture, Food, and Sustainability majors are farm-focused and community-minded. They are
interested in the ways in which local farmers and food enterprises contribute to healthy food supply—from
growing crops and raising animals, all the way through to distribution and fair access to food. They are keenly
interested in where their food comes from. They have an innate respect for the land, what it provides, and the
people who work it. They are both naturalists and business people.
University of Maine, College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and
Agriculture: Orono, Maine. With its broad geographic, climatic, and landscape
diversity, the state of Maine provides an exceptional outdoor laboratory for students interested in the natural
sciences, forestry, and agriculture. Students who choose the college will find a diversity of programs taught by
a faculty that comprises the largest group of scientists in the state of Maine.
Maryland;
University of Maryland, College of Agriculture and Natural
Resources: College Park, Maryland. Committed to offering exemplary
teaching programs. Conducting internationally renowned research. Coordinating outstanding extension/ outreach
efforts. Engaging individuals, groups, and communities to improve quality of life in Maryland and beyond.
University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, School of Agriculture and Natural
Sciences: Princess Anne, Maryland. Undergraduate programs in pre-veterinary
medicine, plant and soil science, animal and poultry science, agribusiness, agricultural studies, nutrition,
dietetics, fashion merchandising, early child development, family and consumer sciences, biology, chemistry and
environmental science are representative of the School's varied curricula. Graduate programs, at both the
Masters and Doctoral levels, are offered in Marine Estuarine and Environmental Sciences, and the Masters degree
is offered Food and Agricultural Sciences. The doctorate is also offered in Food Science and Technology and in
Toxicology.
Massachusetts;
Hampsire College, Farm Center: Amherst, Massachusetts.
The Hampshire College Farm Center is a working farm, as well as a research, education, and outreach facility,
dedicated to sustainable agriculture.
Created in the late nineteen-seventies as an experimental project of the Natural Science faculty, the Farm Center
continues to be a place where students and faculty integrate science and alternative technology as a means for
testing sustainable methods of farming.
University of Massachusetts, Stockbridge School of
Agriculture: Amherst,. Massachusetts. Stockbridge students have all the
advantages of being members of the larger UMass community while keeping the close student-faculty relationships.
Students can be involved in a broad range of activities, including clubs, intramural sports and residential
activities. Stockbridge is the small school with big opportunities.
Michigan;
Michigan State University, College of Agriculture and Natural
Resources: East Lansing, Michigan. As the first college of the first land
grant institution in America - from the first day of the first class - this college's calling has been to bring
knowledge to the people of Michigan. The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources encompass a broad view of
agriculture and natural resources, including sustainable agriculture and natural resource systems; food and
nutrition; community, family and youth development; technology and process management; and international
programs.
